i uploaded like my billion julian casablancas photos up on flickr (i will tell you in advance that it is like 300 shots of the same thing hooray!!!) i put a few of my favorite shots under the cut but it's julian he is always beautiful~~*~*~ (except when he is all de-bloated and post-rehaby and looks kind of like a a baby vulture hhhrrmmmmm!!) it was a good show, you know what to expect with the strokes. they always sound the same! it's reliable. opening acts made me want to bleed out of my ears however.

i broke down and played christmas music yesterday afternoon alone in the apartment while in me skivvies. i broke my own rule of 'only after thanksgiving' :c but whatever it was fuckin WORTH IT!!!! bob dylan's christmas album is on heavy rotation atm. it's the first time i'm excited to be home in a while (flying thanksgiving), but i'm only in norcal for 4 days and have a crapton of things to do but WHATEVER IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT FOR HOME-COOKED FOOD?? MAYBE?? i don't know imma go drive to the korean fried chicken restaurant.

i actually took an effing midterm yesterday morning with a fever

it was an in-class essay about keats but i may have gone on a tangent for about two paragraphs about bright star and how ben wishaw has rape eyes, but somehow that makes him more attractive, because actually he is so tiny he couldn't even push you, so like the entire contradiction of his person is very compelling, much like his poetry WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT

but seattle: so, so beautiful. seriously as if i couldn't find another reason to dislike los angeles (which is almost definitely my least favorite american city, and i think i can say that with confidence, and even without having visited chicago or new orleans or what have you yet) it is like TREES EVERYWHERE and also STYLISHLY GRUNGY PEOPLE. love it! (and i was totally on the lookout for jaebum yall) incidentally, my parents are seriously considering moving to seattle within 2-3 years. i wish they'd move back to new jersey so i could like, make some serious bargaining about transferring to an east coast school, but whatevs

feeling exceedingly ugly (BREAKING OUT NOOO) and alone on a saturday night (kind of my own fault: feeling antisocial and also aforementioned breaking out), i decided to camwhore and take photos of myself. and then got bored and drew different types of facial hair on myself to try out. conclusion: i would look dashing as fuck with a soul path, gotdamn bitches betta recognize

can i talk about boys for a second okay thanks: i go through 'things'/crushes/flings/unrequited epic romances in like, a BLINK of an eye (so much that it's not ever worth talking about on my LJ seriously, and that's like 80% of what LJ is for, but--no guys, i'm a real wham-bam-thankyou-ma'am kind of relationship person except not in the way that phrase is intended, just in a dating sense because i like most people dislike venereal diseases but moving on) but there's always been this friend, who's just always always been there and i come running back to him whenever i get my heart broken and. it sucks because i think my ovaries are telling me to hurry up and find an actual serious longterm relationship with some dude so i can go to movies with him and make out or whatever, but it's seriously IMPOSSIBLE because i am so fucking emotionally unreachable and prefer to just go running back to this friend, and have him comfort me and play me my favorite bob dylan songs through the phone and i kind of get irrational, like i have to go somehow take a plane and fly home and dramatically kiss him and demand he love me, and because i have no money and am at college hating LA i instead feel like throwing up and punching animals.

i have decided this is unhealthy and needs to change, dunno how tho lolol

THE 'ONE': for the longest time i was trying to find like the actor equivalent of britt daniel but there isn't any so eff it. LOUIS GARREL. a bit old in the face, even professorly if you're not into that type, but intense and intelligent, with lots of quick wit. able to argue and spar!

THE "MISTAKE": HAHA chansung. i definitely veer towards two kinds of guys: the aforementioned intense write-y type, and their polar opposite: the perpetual man-child. there's nothing actually incredibly wrong about these boy-men (even though i would still gladly punch zach braff if given the opportunity), and i don't regard them as mistakes, but i DO tend to go for them, again and again, and it always ends the same because well er they're boys. in my movie he will probably be funny in a clowny way and boyishly charming, and have some definitive man-child occupation, like a DJ or something..

THE TRUE LOVE'S BFF: the funny asshole. no no i love seth cohen just as much as everyone else!! but come onn i can TOTALLY see adam brody being able to pull off funny asshole (and then some). he is the mischevious tom sawyer (notorious white-washing-fence asshole fyi) to my true love's rakish huckleberry finn. and tom sawyer+huck finn is like one of my favorite literary bromances

RIVAL: should be clémence poésy!! tall, beautiful and elegant, and quietly mysterious.

my older sister, who is sarcastic and strong-willed and always knows what she wants; and she still looks out for me better than i can for myself.
aand my older brother as played by hunter parrish who, just like his character on Weeds, is selfish, aloof, immature and kind of goofy. it amazes me how much silas/botwin family interaction has always reminded me of my real brother lol. which...i guess...would make me SHANE. and yet that's still pretty accurate hahaha

my best friend is played by bae doona who is awesome and my role model and it would be excellent all around. i have never been much of a faghag i must confess because they are usually too bitchy for me but i would love a chill not too queeny gay bff!

and that is bob dylan i guess? IT IS MY MOVIE OK bob dylan will be my gay bff if i want him to be LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!

i had the worst weekend ever out of SICKNESS and COUGHING UP MY LUNGS/BLOOD A LA TUBERCULOSIS, old school for real but the reason i got sick at all was quite nice i suppose, because elevator kisses at 2 in the morning are always welcome. even if they do bring about coughing fits that sound like a death rattle tommy gun gatling thing (AWESOME) and laying on the floor having feverish dreams about the cast of Friends. WHEN I AM SICK MY DREAMS ARE ABOUT MADE-UP FRIENDS EPISODES/PLOTS THAT MY OWN IMAGINATION THINKS UP. i had this totally sweet cowboy costume (GRAND OL GOLDMINING PROSPECTOR WHISKERS INCLUDED, MOUSTACHE RIDES FOR EVERYONE!!) that all of my TRUE FRIENDS loved but then my terrible tacky ones somehow convinced me at the last minute to change it to a banal asinine 'sexy cowgirl' costume that would seduce the swedish international student (he's not even that cute guys but he speaks french and german like my pants are on fire it's that good). and then some how by the end of the night i had switched costumes with another girl and i was in an anime-ish cat maid café outfit. --THE HELL

and that wasn't even halloween, because last night i distinctly remember putting on my nicest black tights and dancin shoes and hopping around hollywood, driven by my friend's boyfriend who is very nice and sweet and tolerant of exciteable young desmoiselles. and when we got to some club, he spirited us quickly in past the ID-check thing because i was a dumbass who forgot my ID and also i am the luckiest girl ever sometimes. +10 LUCK AND SPIRIT POINTS

however once we got there i remembered that i hate clubbing because all i ever want to do is dance like a dork and hop up and down to the good more eurotrashy pop songs that are, like, westlife remixes, and that is not at all what most others want to do at clubs, which is why a few dudes got a masterful ELBOW IN FACE TECHNIQUE (perfect execution, fyi) when they tried to turn this beautifully innocent, pure, one-man-mosh-pit type of dancing into sex with clothes on. most hilarious is that all the dudes were asian, like when did my people ever find the courage to do that in between all the studying for engineering major reqs??

but anyway i got tired of that and went outside and my phone rang and it was koizumi who is the sweetest most nicest boy i have ever met, but this is probably because he is 23 and totally grown-up and nice and super japanese, and fascinated by my love for france. and also his dad has a job filming concerts in tokyo and that is just so awesome goddamn. so we talked about JUSTICE and daft punk remixes for a while in broken korean-japanglish and i decided he is my first non-pasty hipster white boy crush (but probably the cupcake shop dude turned me off them FOREVER so thanks a lot, douche). but then he said he is moving back to japan by december, and then i decided i will never love again and become a nun, like seriously eff this

but it is really super unfortunate how my creepy love for older men especially prevalent in celebrity/actor/musician crushes is SLOWLY BUT SURELY SLIPPING INTO MY DAY-TO-DAY LIFE

i have to fess up now: i don't like LA. for what it is and the people i've met, it's fun, yes of course!! but i am just not happy, whereas i know for a fact i'd be happier tucked up somewhere north in the east coast or back in SF/bay area or (DREAM OF DREAMS) in france frolicking with poodles!!

02 | phillipe jullien's 1998 short film Le Cyclope de la Mer scored by yann tiersen!! it won a bunch of awards and stuff. it's about a lonely lighthouse keeper named ro who gets attached to a goldfish he saves! it is really sweet and lovely, but that fish is a total jerk.

03 | i saw MGMT, beck and spoon at the hollywood bowl last saturday!! it was really really nice. i feel bad for not liking spoon that much before-- i mean i always liked them, but never paid that much attention? i would not mind seeing them live again is what i am sayin!!

couldn't sleep, watched really really old school saturday night live on tv (holy poops the 70's were just a smoky haze of sex and drugs and surrealism for the SNL cast), DECIDED TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT MAKING PICSPAM OF WONDERFUL MOVIE In Bruges. went to work and fell asleep in the back. bought a $1,100 laptop for $600 in retail bitchessss

really though!! SUPER MOVIE~ also it was awesome to see so many harry potter actors together in one movie being totally outrageous and not children's novel characters at all ho ho~ some v. minor spoilers, but nothing big/game-giving-- i mostly just focused on the romance between the clemence poésy and colin farrell characters ahaha

so pretty!! i am also weirdly serendipitously in love with this movie because am currently afflicted with severe case of wanderlustustust

look at how pretty she is!! it is staggering. colin farrell's eyebrows are emoting like crazy here

also I TOTALLY NEVER DUG COLIN FARRELL BEFORE THIS MOVIE. i always thought he was just a greasy bachelor dude with eyebrows that are skilled thespians in themselves. HIS FACIAL EXPRESSIONS ARE PRICELESS HOWEVER and he is also struck dumb by clemence's je ne sais pas and for that i love him and his two furry acting school companions!!

gleeson's character is also twenty different kinds of RAD! but that is probably because everyone in this fucking movie is. he bitches at colin farrell's character like a teenage girl trying to get her beauty sleep, except colin is the nebbish roommate who just got laid for the first time and CAN'T STOP TALKIN ABOUT IT. mad eye moody does not stand for this foolishness and/or horndoggery

i'm trying to make song mixes for work. it's actually kind OF SUPER HARD-- i have to take in consideration it is a sushi restaurant, but not a terribly hip sushi restaurant, but all the sushi chefs are these like hip young hot dudes who i have to impress by resisting the urge to put in only stuff i found from popjustice, but i can't scare off any of the older people who eat there and might get a heart attack from hearing cocorosie owl hooting or somethin crazy!! they'll be shocked!! "why is there an owl hooting at 2 in the afternoon??" and then bam DEAD

it's probably the dorkiest most over-eager thing to do, haha, but i am DEAD TIRED of the ~easy listening~ station on the radio. IF I HAVE TO HEAR MAROON 5 ONE MORE FUCKING TIME

so basically it's a nicer easy listening mix without commercials, very much a mixed bag!! (i also put japanese stuff on there because it's cute SHUT UP IT'S NOT LAME (footnote: was originally planning to make a mix entirely of songs about japan/tokyo/food. am indeed that cool.)) i am bound to be making several more of these over the next two months until school starts, so please do help if you've got any nice musics that is not unpleasant and accessible and won't get me ARRESTED.

i put it up here in case you have dumb work too where they only play the radio and also you're not allowed to play anything dangerous and possibly inspiring of lustful thoughts in young willful souls vulnerable to the devil

i have taken spring break to recharge my fuel and try to get my sleeping patterns set right again (EXCEPT I REALIZED NO SCHOOL SCHEDULE = HAVOC, WREAKED) it's been all about artin it up and watching movies these past few days, except not even that because i have to write a 10 page essay on why 100 Years of Solitude is a literary classic. not that i don't have a lot to say because it's a good book natch but, but!! it's my teacher's ~favorite book~ and he keeps on stressing this at me like it is going to make a difference.
